Monday night found some nice
guests visiting Havana and the Macomb Lady Bombers softball team all to meet
up for some ball with our Lady Ducks....
good call !!! Game officials are not always a fan favorite when leaving the
field or gym, but a remarkably high percentage of calls are correct and even
on the split second super close plays and proven by photographs or recorded
documentation....Macy Witherell was hustling down the line trying her best
to beat that throw to first base but milliseconds late and just a mere
couple of inches left for her foot to touch the bag when the ball arrived
into the opponents glove...The Lady Ducks went on to beat the South Fulton
Lady Rebels with a score of 7-0 in the regulation 7 innings....
Thursday found A-Town
in our town and looking for a game
with our Lady Ducks...in a close play at 3rd, Kayla McDaniel 's day at the
plate, kept the opponents back by the warning track....
tough as anyone I know, without
acting like a tough guy... Kevin Bonnett suffered a compound fracture of his
arm and had to sit out most of the basketball season, but worked hard
through all the sweat and pain in order to be ready for the baseball season
and he made it back to his starting position at shortstop and even was asked
to pitch a few innings, he was back on the field and playing the game he
loves. The Ducks hosted the Rushville-Industry Rockets on Tuesday, April 8th
for a double hitter when in the second game Kevin's arm was broken once
again as he was making a throw to second base. The break was just below the
previous break as you can see below, Kevin may not make it back this season,
but just like the basketball season, Kevin will be at every game and
practice with his team being a very positive force from the bench. We wish
you the very best Kevin and knowing you there is no doubt in my mind that
you are going to be back on that field better and stronger...that's just who
Spring baseball with
the Havana Ducks...brought Midwest Central to town
on Monday the 7th on a newly remodeled Ducks Field....love the new grass
infield and some other additions including a tailgate section for the
students who were grilling up some pretty good smelling vittles....
Tuesday, May 1st
the Lady Ducks took the home diamond along with the Lady Tigers of
Beardstown, a scrappy and offensive aggressive team....but when I left in
the 5th inning the solid Lady Ducks team behind a very good pitching effort
by Morgan Curless had the Lady Tigers down 5-2. Looks like another great
season for our girls on the diamond ... I'll get to as many games as i
possibly can, so come out and support this very good team!!!!
The annual epic battle
of the Blue and Gray, otherwise known as the Kiwanis International All Star
Games. With both teams scoring over 100 points and only six fouls by both
teams, it can easily be determined that it was an offensive game. Both
the boys and girls games were very interesting and good games featuring the
best HS Seniors in the Area.
The Westown Ford 8th Annual All-Star Classic
was held on March 22nd at Jacksonville High School. The North All Stars took
the lead early and never looked back, but it was not intended as a
competition but rather an evening to honor the best in the area and allow
the girls to suit up one more time to play some ball with many friends and
competitors of many years.
Ted's Madness 3 on 3 features some Hoops for everyone of all ages and on Saturday, the 15th they came from all directions to take part...It was a great day of basketball, see ya next year....The photos are edited and now posted for your viewing and purchases of your favorites....
FINALLY....the photos are edited !!! The HJHS Volleyball teams held their 8th Grade Night by hosting South Fulton on Thursday evening...The hundreds of photos are now finished the editing process and are uploaded into a gallery for you....Have fun, I hope you like them:
Well, you lock the back door and I got the lights, that does it for another season.....
The last game of the regular season was played in Elmwood on Friday, another very festive night was enjoyed by everyone. I am sorry for the delay in getting the photos edited and posted but they are ready now. Next is the Regional Tournament for the boys and the Ducks are hosting it once again...The photos are ready for you to wrap up those special scrap books and you can find them at the link below....
Yup, you guessed it...Senior Night !!!
It was a great time with lots of activities and even some local heroes
swapping a few kisses with a pig to help the kids!!! A little basketball
resulted in a split, and a great crowd was in house....
On Tuesday evening
it was time to head for Astoria and see the Ducks take on the South Fulton
Rebels for their Senior night. It was quite a game with the Rebels coming
out up by two. It was a great and hard fought match-up with lots of great
action underneath as you can see here.
The Illini Central Coaches Vs Cancer
Showcase took place on Saturday February 15 and the teams came from Chicago
to Arthur. The luck of the draw did not go the way of the Havana Ducks as
their opponents were Cerro Gordo-Bement who are a very impressive team, but
this loss was a minor thing compared to the loss of 6'2" Junior, Dustin
Mibbs, for the rest of the season and post season play with a broken foot is
devastating....but sit tight Dustin, do what the Dr's tell you and heal well
for your senior year!!!
Just in time to
change clothes and head for the Regionals ...
the game photos from Monday night's game with Peoria Heights are edited and
posted...It was quite a game and a great comeback by the Patriots cost the
Ducks a win, but they are up for Friday night's last home game and of course
Senior Night....come on out and have a great Friday night....
The last game of the regular season was a double win for Head Coach Jerry Wilson's Lady Ducks, a versatile team with talent everywhere you look...young but experienced with lots of speed and a defense like a swarm of honey bees. Coach Wilson has his team ready and with a little time spent with the officials getting them in shape for post season ;) , the stage is set right here in Havana for the Regional Tournament which begins tonight and the Lady Ducks taking the court for the first time on Tuesday night at 7:00. In the mean time, the game photos from the Knoxville game are edited and posted, so take a look and grab your favorites for that great scrapbook you are working on....
The post season has arrived
for the Havana Lady Ducks and yes
it was a scramble. With all the crazy weather in Central Illinois this year
there were tons of last minute make-up games, with the Lady Ducks hosting 4
regular season postponed games with Brimfield and Knoxville on Saturday
after traveling to Cuba on Friday night to make up yet another game with
North Fulton. I have finished editing the game photos from the first two
games of the day against Brimfield and have them posted for you to view and
purchase for your scrapbooks. The Regional Tournament will be hosted this
year by Havana High School and the Lady Ducks will play their first game on
Tuesday at 7:00. Hope to see you there supporting this great team of very
talented young ladies....
That's Jeremy Eakle flying
pretty low in pursuit
of a loose ball in Friday nights games with North Fulton while our Lady
Ducks had traveled to Cuba to meet up with the Lady Cats which was
photographed by Brendon Bauman and those photos can be found at Brendon
Bauman Photos for all of us who haven't figured out how to be two places at
one time ;)
Some called it Senior Night, some called it the game of the year, but then...most just called it Katie Boyce night. Katie was the lone Senior player this year and it was time to celebrate all her accomplishments....and BTW, the team also handed Katie a double win on Monday night....the game photos are finished and uploaded for your scrapbooks and just viewing...
The Rushville Lady Rockets
are winding down their season with their annual tournament. Wednesday night
they played PORTA and with all the recent cancellations it was a good
opportunity to see and photograph a good game and go deliver a small gift to
some pretty special folks that I have had the good fortune to get to know
over the last couple of years. The team will be graduating 4 Seniors this
year that will be missed. Unless something very odd happens this will be the
last game of the year I will be able to attend and photograph....the game
photos of the Lady Rockets win over PORTA are finished and uploaded at the
From Left to Right we have: Tanner Breedlove, Allison Nycole Collins, Coach Zac Royer, Missy, Melissa Ervin , Noriath Lowani, and on the right is some old fart that just would not get out of the photo!!!
