FINALLY....the photos are edited !!! The HJHS Volleyball teams held their 8th Grade Night by hosting South Fulton on Thursday evening...The hundreds of photos are now finished the editing process and are uploaded into a gallery for you....Have fun, I hope you like them:
Well, you lock the back door and I got the lights, that does it for another season.....
The last game of the regular season was played in Elmwood on Friday, another very festive night was enjoyed by everyone. I am sorry for the delay in getting the photos edited and posted but they are ready now. Next is the Regional Tournament for the boys and the Ducks are hosting it once again...The photos are ready for you to wrap up those special scrap books and you can find them at the link below....
Yup, you guessed it...Senior Night !!!
It was a great time with lots of activities and even some local heroes
swapping a few kisses with a pig to help the kids!!! A little basketball
resulted in a split, and a great crowd was in house....
On Tuesday evening
it was time to head for Astoria and see the Ducks take on the South Fulton
Rebels for their Senior night. It was quite a game with the Rebels coming
out up by two. It was a great and hard fought match-up with lots of great
action underneath as you can see here.
The Illini Central Coaches Vs Cancer
Showcase took place on Saturday February 15 and the teams came from Chicago
to Arthur. The luck of the draw did not go the way of the Havana Ducks as
their opponents were Cerro Gordo-Bement who are a very impressive team, but
this loss was a minor thing compared to the loss of 6'2" Junior, Dustin
Mibbs, for the rest of the season and post season play with a broken foot is
devastating....but sit tight Dustin, do what the Dr's tell you and heal well
for your senior year!!!
Just in time to
change clothes and head for the Regionals ...
the game photos from Monday night's game with Peoria Heights are edited and
posted...It was quite a game and a great comeback by the Patriots cost the
Ducks a win, but they are up for Friday night's last home game and of course
Senior Night....come on out and have a great Friday night....
The last game of the regular season was a double win for Head Coach Jerry Wilson's Lady Ducks, a versatile team with talent everywhere you look...young but experienced with lots of speed and a defense like a swarm of honey bees. Coach Wilson has his team ready and with a little time spent with the officials getting them in shape for post season ;) , the stage is set right here in Havana for the Regional Tournament which begins tonight and the Lady Ducks taking the court for the first time on Tuesday night at 7:00. In the mean time, the game photos from the Knoxville game are edited and posted, so take a look and grab your favorites for that great scrapbook you are working on....
The post season has arrived
for the Havana Lady Ducks and yes
it was a scramble. With all the crazy weather in Central Illinois this year
there were tons of last minute make-up games, with the Lady Ducks hosting 4
regular season postponed games with Brimfield and Knoxville on Saturday
after traveling to Cuba on Friday night to make up yet another game with
North Fulton. I have finished editing the game photos from the first two
games of the day against Brimfield and have them posted for you to view and
purchase for your scrapbooks. The Regional Tournament will be hosted this
year by Havana High School and the Lady Ducks will play their first game on
Tuesday at 7:00. Hope to see you there supporting this great team of very
talented young ladies....
That's Jeremy Eakle flying
pretty low in pursuit
of a loose ball in Friday nights games with North Fulton while our Lady
Ducks had traveled to Cuba to meet up with the Lady Cats which was
photographed by Brendon Bauman and those photos can be found at Brendon
Bauman Photos for all of us who haven't figured out how to be two places at
one time ;)
Some called it Senior Night, some called it the game of the year, but then...most just called it Katie Boyce night. Katie was the lone Senior player this year and it was time to celebrate all her accomplishments....and BTW, the team also handed Katie a double win on Monday night....the game photos are finished and uploaded for your scrapbooks and just viewing...
The Rushville Lady Rockets
are winding down their season with their annual tournament. Wednesday night
they played PORTA and with all the recent cancellations it was a good
opportunity to see and photograph a good game and go deliver a small gift to
some pretty special folks that I have had the good fortune to get to know
over the last couple of years. The team will be graduating 4 Seniors this
year that will be missed. Unless something very odd happens this will be the
last game of the year I will be able to attend and photograph....the game
photos of the Lady Rockets win over PORTA are finished and uploaded at the
From Left to Right we have: Tanner Breedlove, Allison Nycole Collins, Coach Zac Royer, Missy, Melissa Ervin , Noriath Lowani, and on the right is some old fart that just would not get out of the photo!!!
Lady Ducks 160 - Peoria Heights 26....yup, that's what I said !!! Quite an offensive night for the girls as Santa and all his Elf's cheered the girls on to two blowouts, with an even 80 points in each game. The game photos are finished and uploaded and just waiting for you at the link below, remember it's scrapbook time so don't forget your prints and please help me tag everyone....The girls are off to play Bushnell PC tonight so good luck there girls!!!!
Great to have a friendly crowd behind
you.....our great young folks work
very long and hard hours to showcase a sporting event and it is great to see
lots of folks in the stands rooting for their favorite team and players,
cheerleaders, band members, dancers, and yes even the kids at the concession
stand do a great job and deserve our support....with only a few games left
in the season, get into the stands, have some fun, and give these kids a pat
on the back....
Havana's Brady Dietsch,
gets plenty of air on the Tuesday night match-up with Lewistown. It was a
typical gathering for these two as long-time rivals on all fields of play
and the two teams went at it pretty good as usual, but also as usual, there
was a lot of hand shaking and back slapping, which is always a great thing
Monday night the Rushville
Lady Rockets hosted the North
Fulton Lady Cats. Hannah Crum, Rushville's Junior Center is mixing it up
inside for two points in another Lady Rocket victory over NF. The girls have
been playing great ball lately with some awesome outside shooting and some
inside power from their three Seniors, Tanner Breedlove and Missy Melissa
Ervin who recently led quite a shoot workshop by shooting an amazing 54%
from beyond the 3 point line, and of course, inside is their great scrapper
and hustler, Allison Nycole Collins. With things happening both outside and
inside, they are tough to guard and defend and a great combo...
To say that last night's game
in Mason City against Illini Central was a tough one would be a huge
understatement. I am not going to sit her and rant on how bad one official
was especially in the last quarter, we all know that so let's just say that
the Havana Ducks
will shrug off a two point difference and go on to bigger and better things. The bottom line, it's Lewistown on Tuesday night, see you there....
The small photo at right: The Official on the left called #22 out of bounds for stepping on the line while in possession of the ball and possession went to the home team....typical of his officiating which only got worse and more obvious in the last few minutes of the game!!!
It's Tuesday, January 14th and there are 3 seconds to go
in the overtime session of the basketball game between the Havana Ducks and
the Hartem Stags, the stage had been set with an earlier shot to tie the
game at 51 all. Jeremiah Vance was poised in the far Southeast corner of the
court to receive the pass and unleash a towering shot that produced nothing
but net for a winning 54-51 victory over Hartem in a great game.
Alex Clancy is a fierce
competitor on the football field
as we have all seen, but we have also seen him be a very good sport. In fact
I have seen a defender make a great play that kept him out of the end zone
and Alex walked over and shook hands with his opponent and congratulated him
on a great play. How on earth Alex Clancy ended up on the basketball court
with a couple of pom-poms at halftime of the Havana-Farmington game I will
never know, but there he was supporting his team and doing his best....Alex,
you are quite a guy, you never cease to amaze me!!! Great Job !!!!!
The Elmwood girls came
to town on Jan 9th to take on our great Havana
Lady Ducks without much success. Both JV and Varsity Lady Ducks had a wicked
full court press working very well and it was something to watch...they seem
to be ready for the Camp Point Tournament next week, so good luck girls. I
have a very heavy schedule next week and will not be able to make it to Camp
Point unless something gets postponed, but we'll see you again very soon!
Havana Head Basketball Coach, Tyler Southwood, welcomes Rushville-Industry Rockets Head Coach, Chuck Thomas to HHS for Wednesday nights game...I have all the photos edited and posted all snug and warm in their very own gallery at the link below where you can view them or even purchase prints for your scrapbooks!!!!
Sophomore Havana Lady Ducks
Guard, Laykn Wagoner, does know
how to put the touch on a shot, be it a 3 pointer here or under the bucket
and in a big crowd of defenders. Laykn is representative of a young but very
good Havana Lady Ducks team. The Lady Ducks have 12 players that share the
court time, scoring, and great defensive skills in a very well balanced
group that come at you from every angle with a relentless aggression and
skill levels from every position on the team.... They play Elmwood at home
on Thursday, then it off to the Camp Point tournament followed by a number
of home games the following two weeks, so come on out and give these girls a
look, you will have a great time!!!!
Holiday Basketball Tournament Season
Around these parts the basketball action is at The 20th Annual Williamsville Holiday Tournament for the boys and of course for the girls it's The 32nd Annual Lady Tiger Classic in Beardstown. I traveled to both for lots of game coverage, the links below will take you directly to the photo galleries for your viewing and you may also purchase your favorite prints right from each gallery...
